Counselor Trainee and Intern

Kayla Moris is a dedicated Counselor in Training. She is currently working under the expert guidance and supervision of Rebecca Owens, LPCC-S, a seasoned professional with over 10 years of experience in the counseling field.

I am currently pursuing my Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University. I also hold a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice that I earned at Ohio University in 2020. For the past 9 years I have worked in the healthcare field caring for cancer patients as a Patient Care Assistant. This job has shaped me into the person I am today and has allowed me to come to terms with pursuing my career in counseling. I am a very dedicated person who has a passion in helping, supporting and guiding individuals with overcoming challenges, unlocking their potential and achieving their goals with confidence and resilience.
My goal is to support individuals with low self-esteem, addictions, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and suicidal ideation. I plan to utilize techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Motivational Interviewing to empower clients on their healing journey.
Outside of work I spend a lot of time outdoors. The things I enjoy are traveling, being in the sunshine, playing softball, quality time with the family, trying new restaurants and watching sports. I also prioritize my self-care as I believe it is fundamental to maintain a healthy and balanced life.
A huge goal of mine is to provide not just guidance, but also a sense of hope and reassurance, helping clients navigate their challenges and embrace the growth they deserve.
